Anneli (Lievonen) Boon: Contemporary art for lovers of clean, modern style

Minimalist abstract paper art in the collage form

I was born in Finland, where my roots still remain providing much of the inspiration behind my work. "Enough and no more" together with Scandinavian simplicity, Nordic light and use of colour speaks volumes of my work.

I create impressions of rural and city landscape together with nature and changing seasons reduced to their basic elements. My collage art work is composed by the layering of observations, memories, thoughts, imaginations and dreams, as well as the materials of paper, paint and glue.

Collage artwork

The aesthetic act of pasting papers on the surface has been practised in various folk arts for centuries. Collage as a fine art medium, however, first emerged with some acclaimed painters in the early 20th century.

I create personal images, but also encourage the viewer to visualise their own interpretation.

As a result of much experimentation with materials and techniques, I have developed a highly personal style of creating collage art in distinctive forms of composition, harmony and mood with asymmetrical balance of colour, shape and spatial relationship.

For my collage medium I prepare assorted papers to which I apply colour using mainly acrylic paints. These provide the palette for my pictures' composition.

Collages mounted on paper are normally sold unframed, unless agreed otherwise.

Works on raised panels have a protective varnished finish and have the appearance and structure of paintings on canvas and do not require any framing.
